Racers Oct 05, 2010
By Brian I usually run in Asics Kayano's. Bought these for racing. Have so far ran 4 or 5 times in them. They feel great on, good support for such a light shoe and provide enough support for someone like me who is an over-pronator and usually wears stability shoes.

Great running shoe Jan 07, 2011
By Landrunner This shoe works for long distance races but it wears fast. Try to own an extra pair of shoes for trainings.

A Great Running Shoe for Flat-footed people Aug 03, 2010
By joey knish I'm flat-footed but love to run long distances. This is an excellent shoe. Light weight and very durable. A bit pricey but well worth the money.
Pretty good Nov 14, 2011
By S. Gabbay This is a very light shoe- the heal cup is snug, decent room in the toe box, and it looks pretty good. I wish there was less of a height differential between the heal and the forefoot. It would be a pretty perfect shoe if it was a 3mm to 5mm lift at most. I use it for training.

Not your typical ASICS fit- and that's a bad thing Oct 04, 2010
By Hyung Lee I am a die-hard ASICS fan and I own many of their shoes including 2130/40, Cumulus, DS-Trainer, Speedstar, Hyperspeed. Earlier this year I began to train to run a marathon with forefoot/midfoot strike running, instead of the traditional heel-toe method. Hence I began to search for lighter-weight shoes to use in the marathon.
I came across the Saucony Progrid Kinvara, and I really loved them, but 2 downsides were that the soles wore down very fast, and I could have used a little bit of stability as I pronate slightly. Newtons were too expensive, so I was very glad to see ASICS release DS-Racer 8, a light-weight stability performance shoes. I love ASICS, and I wanted to love these DS-Racer, but alas, it was not meant to be.
My biggest issue with the DS-Racer is that ASICS changed the fit of these shoes. I have always been ASIC 8.5 - you could bank on it, and have been for many years. As I said, I own many pairs of ASICS, and the thing I liked about their shoes was the feeling of having my feet wrapped around securely without feeling the tightness. For whatever reason the DS-Racers fit so differently than the other ASICS, that the mid section of my feel quite squeezed. It's like ASICS product managers decided that to cut their cost, they would remove some of the material from the mid-section, then expect the users to get the same snug feeling from the laces. It didn't work.
It is really unfortunate because I really wanted to love these shoes, and debated for days before returning them. I hope ASICS will release another DS-Racer with modified fit (go back to the traditional fit!), or make another model of light-weight stability performance shoes.
