5great comfort; more durable than pricier Asics shoes  Feb 20, 2010
By Ted W
This is the second pair of these shoes I have purchased. They are super comfortable and they wear much better (i.e. last longer) than other, higher-end Asics footwear I've owned. And the Amazon price was considerably lower than the e-tailer where I bought the previous pair.

5Great shoes!  May 24, 2010

These shoes are great! I business casual at work, but Im able to get away with wearing these. They are very light weight, perfect for walking/wearing all day and have lasted about 1 year.

4ASICS Gel Foundation Walker...a solid and comfortable walking shoe  Nov 12, 2010
By trebe
I was looking for a rugged walking shoe, and after some extensive shopping, selected the Gel Foundation Walker in black. The appearance is low key but sharp, and the build quality is pretty good. The soles have a tread pattern is a kind of a series of ridges, that provides good traction, and looks to be solidly glued on. There are no pointed nubs that wear down first. The heel of the Foundation Walker is about 1.2 inches high, rock solid, and should hold up for the lifetime of the shoe. While the heel is solid, the shoe is still quite flexible in the front by the balls of the feet. If you are kneeling down, your feet will feel no undue stress. Asics' gel sole is very comfortable, with gel inserts at various locations, but doesn't quite have the bounce I thought it might. Normally I add some kind of cushion insert for a little more arch support, but so far have not done so, as there seems to be just enough rear arch support. My feet don't feel worn out after walking a few miles

The design follows the typical Asics' pattern, with both solid and breathable sections. The solid sections made of some smooth synthetic material are attractive, but do not appear to be particularly wear or scratch resistant. The breathable sections appear to be fairly thick and durable. The laces are OK, but are a little thin for my tastes. Overall, it's an attractive and comfortable shoe, great for trekking on pavement, but probably not well-suited to hiking off the trail.

While I would of course preferred to pay less, at $63 this was a pretty good buy for me. The price of some shoes can fluctuate quite a bit at Amazon, and long term availability often seems to be an issue, so if you see a good deal, it's best not to wait too long.

5I love Asics  Jan 18, 2011
By Spyro "spyroa"
I am cursed with a long and wide foot. I hear all the jokes. My golfing buddies joke that the sand rake isn't big enough to get my foot prints out of the sand. My hunting buddies joke about sasquatch raiding the camp because they've seen foot prints around the camp.

What isn't a joke is trying to buy shoes that fit my feet. It isn't easy finding 14 4Es. It limits your choices to a couple of manufacturers. When I buy dress shoes, I always feel that I have to compromise something be it looks, fit or performance.

When I buy Asics, I don't have to make any compromises. They fit great. They look great. They perform great.

I use both the versions of the Gel Foundation, walker and runner, and love them both. The runners have twice the cushioning but they do not have the performance lifespan of the walkers. So the walkers are for everyday use and weightlifting while the runners are used for cardio.

2Runs too narrow.  Nov 19, 2011
By J. Hesson
These shoes felt ok other than they were too narrow (ordered 13 4E). This was my first purchase of Asics brand shoes and probably my last, unless I buy them locally so I can try them on first. Cost me $6.70 postage to return them. But you live and learn.
