Homerun for ASICS Feb 15, 2011
By ZoomDoc There is always a price point in any company's running shoe line where there are diminishing returns beyond that price. For new balance its the 1226. For Brooks its the Adrenaline GTS 11. Out pacing them all is the ASICS GTS 2160. I own the Asics gel Nimbus 12 and the Kayano 17. For the money the sweet spot in their lineup is the 2160. Asics just keeps getting it right with this 2100 series shoe. I will go out on a limb and state their is no better running shoe in the world at this price point. Cushioning is top notch. The stitching and design of the uppers is excellent. The interior materials are also a grade above most running shoes. I have other shoes like the Nike Vomero 5, a slew of New Balance shoes and a slew of Brooks runners. I bought this shoe in all Black thinking it was a lower end Asics product and I would use it as a walking shoe. Boy was I wrong. You can pay more but you won't get more. Since I got this shoe I did some additional research and found out I was not the only one who knew the secret about this shoe. In fact ASICS sells more 2100 series shoes than any other shoe in the world. The problem with these shoes is once you put them on you won't want to take them off. It feels great walking running working and hiking. Very light and flexible but still with enough support to make even the finicky runner happy. This is the top seller and now I know why and you do too. Quality at a discount price. Can somebody make an all Brown running shoe so I can wear them to work !! I have not considered buying the same model running shoe from any company. This is likely a repeat purchase. I need a good excuse. My wife thinks I've lost my mind with all these running shoes. Truth is these shoes will make you want to run 7 days a week. And isn't that the point in the first place.

Best running shoe for the money of a pronating oaf Aug 11, 2011
By spanky Very simply put: lightweight, secure fit, cushioned, plush road feel, with memory foam ankle contact. I would say, for the money, it is a better value than the Kayano. And, lucky enough for me, it comes in a 12.5 4E. Try finding that at your local Sports Authority or Dick's. Free shipping from Amazon: arrived in 3 days.

stress relief for your feet Apr 02, 2011
By JGfromSTL I had pronation and doc suggested these years ago. I have the 2100 from 2005, awesome shoe. Lasted a long time, I still have them for yard work. Washable, comfort is top notch, but time for new ones so I bought the 2160s -even better. Worth every penny. You may not realize how stressed your feet are until you wear a shoe like this, even if you're not a runner. If you have never heard your feet say 'Ahhhhhh' try these 2160s, your feet will thank you. I mean it. Mine actually said, 'Ahhhhhhhh...thank you.'

Asics Rock!!! Mar 05, 2012
By REVIEW88 2140's are almost the same as 2160's but better...
Asics have become the only brand I'll buy due to my large feet and need of wide shoes. I'm on my 3rd & 4th pair over the past 4 years. I started with the 2140 at a local sporting goods store. After searching hours and in stores I came across the Asics. 2140 was exactly what I was looking for wide for my feet and big enough. Price at $100 was a bit much, but I wasn't going to go with another walmart brand that falls apart or was cramping my oversized feet. I ended up buying a 2nd pair after the mesh had gotten caught at work and tore on a skid. It was only a matter of time as I'd came close to tripping or catching them on something many times bound to happen at my job just the way its set up. Red & white schemed shoes were really dirty after that first year, as they were the only shoes I'd worn for work and everywhere really, for a good 2000+hrs loading and moving heavy materials at work alone. Held up a lot better then expected, and better then the $15-$30 shoes I'd bought elsewhere.
Well the 2160's I saw on amazon being cheaper at $60 so I bought two different color schemes one black other white/red. Black works great for work it also seems to be made it bit more durable overall compared to the 2140's. I was concerned about the change from 2140-2160 as to whether they'd fit the same. I can't tell much of a difference, but I kinda think they were more comfortable then the 2140 as well. Could just be me wanting to think that as I'd found my first two so great.
PROS Good fit if you find your exact needs-suggest trying in local store as there are many widths/sizes.
Light weight- Use less energy to get moving
They do good for walking and running- Tend to have a propelling forward feeling when you do walk or run. I don't find them to be the same as boots or regular shoes where they are flat ...hence "running shoe" I'd say. Seems to have more pivotal flex in them.
Durability- Finding them quite durable compared to brands I'd bought from walmart.
Styles and color schemes are good- Black/white (mostly black) scheme works great for places you might get them dirty. Wasn't too happy with white/red scheme shoes when it rained/snowed walk in mud or using at work a few months in as they got dirty, did cleanup with soap and water though, but who wants to clean shoes all the time. Originally that was my $100 2140's pair I'd had that problem with...was a con on my part, but lesson learned.
CONS Price if anything...not even sure that for the time they last & comfort now that prices are lower.
