My search continues. These were not it for me. From the moment I tried them on they were so uncomfortable and painful that I couldn't wear them. I walked around the house trying so hard to like them and they were so painful I couldn't do it. I took them off and returned them (first time I've ever returned anything to Amazon). They had very little padding - is everyone adding cushion insoles to these? I wear plush athletic socks and even with those I found these shoes incredibly hard and stiff with very little padding. I don't have unusual feet and I love the Asics running shoe but I was disappointed with these.

By Tennis Nut I have never worn ASICS tennis shoes before so I was not sure if I needed to break in period. After one try, they were comfortable and no break-in period.
Narrow Toe box Dec 30, 2011
By Nancy L. Jones I loved this shoe, but the toe box is just a bit too narrow for my medium width foot. The arch support is wonderful. I would highly reccomend this shoe if you consider yourself a bit on the narrow side.

By J.I.L. This is my second pair of Asics Gel Challenger. And I love it. I use it to play tennis on a clay court and this shoe has great arch support as well as lateral support for those side to side movements. This is the challenger 8 and my first one was the challenger 6, this newer model has some looseness at the heal than the earlier model. I did not want to deal w/ any returns as I needed new tennis shoes like "yesterday," so I wear two pairs of socks and it does the trick. I get compliments on the style as well!
