good shoes. Mar 09, 2010
By Johnnn 34 these babies are reeeaaal nice. they seem like a good enough quality. they where crazy affordable too (under $30).
-my personal opinion though is that the shoes are a little on the plain side. its not that its a bad thing....i would have just killed for a little more detail on them. adios have a very nice logo and it would have been nice for some more subtle detail to them (for the record, i know thats just my personal opinion. the shoes look exactly as they do in the picture, and regardless of how much i enjoy the shoes design, i knew exactly what i was ordering via the pics. no surprises)
-these shoes are also HUGE in terms of mass. typically, normal skate shoes are the same way. (large, HUGE tongue, look stupid with jeans that arent baggy.)
i just wish these shoes where juuuuuussst a bit less THICK and had a bit more of a streamline design to them that looked more subtle with strait leg bootcut jeans for example.
-one MAJOR problem with these shoes is that they run way too big. the size is misleading. i tie them pretty tightly and the 11 1/2 still sag. im typically a 12...
either way: good pair of shoes that are everything that i expected. the size is a huge turn off though...
Excellent Shoes for the Price Feb 07, 2010
By Mike B. I've owned these shoes for almost a year now - and I've gotta say I'm very satisfied with my purchase, especially considering they only ran me $30. The shoes have thick padding all around, which is helpful for skating and also makes them comfortable and easy to slide in and out of. They hold up pretty well to the test of time - some of the threads and leather flaps have come a little loose, but nothing terrible and honestly they're holding up pretty well considering that I've been using them every day for the past year for pretty much everything - casual use, skating, running, work. If there's one disadvantage with these, I would say the soles / grip - these shoes utilize thin, wavy line-like thin sole grip, which is good for footbraking (in function, not durability) and gripping a board, but not very good for running and long-term use, especially if you're planning on doing a lot of footbraking. I footbrake with my left foot, and the grip is pretty much completely worn off on that shoe at this point. And even back when the grip was intact there were many times when I found myself wishing these things had more substantial grip. But this is probably to be expected when you buy a skate shoe - so that could just be more of a personal issue with skate shoe's general sole design than with these specific shoes. Also, as the other reviewer mentioned - the design is rather plain - but it hasn't really bothered me, it's more of a un-notable plain than an ugly plain - so really just more of a personal note. You get exactly what you see in the picture.
To sum up...
Pros:
+ Very comfortable and easy to use
+ Excellent bang for your buck
+ Last relatively well
Cons:
- Grip could be better imo
Overall: 9/10
Really, if you're looking for good, cheap casual / skate shoes, there's no reason you shouldn't buy these.
