Chinese Laundry is notorious for having shoes that are too long and this is no exception. I first tried on a 7 in a store because they didn't have my size, 7.5. The arch was not in the proper place and caused a bit of discomfort. The many straps were also a bit tight- but it fit. Thus, I decided to order a 7.5 online.
These shoes are really gorgeous, truly. But that means nothing if you can't wear them! This is the second Chinese Laundry style that I've tried, and it's again a little too long. I can stick a finger between the back of my foot and the shoe. Even gel inserts don't help. It seems like the problem isn't with the size of the sole, but with the back of the shoe protruding outwards. The top straps are simply too long and don't even hug my foot (it looks weird)
In addition, the gold zipper on the back is quite large and makes noises while swinging around. Compound that with shoes that are too big and you get knocking against the back, accentuating a hollow empty noise (where a foot would normally be). I just can't see myself clomping around on a formal night where I'd want to impress people. Thus, I'm returning these and actually ordering the 7s. I said the arches didn't fit in the right place, which is true, but they really are beautiful shoes so I'll go with it (no pain no gain).
I recommend these if your feet fit in them! If they don't, look elsewhere...
