Description:

Your heel should lift up and down with every step, so if you are a half-size you may be more comfortable sizing up (for example, if you are a US 7.5, you may be more comfortable in an EU size 38). Heel should move up and down freely. A closed-back Mary Jane in Box leather featuring decorative accents. High quality leather upper follows the natural contours of the foot. Box leather is ideal for the workplace environments with wet, acidic or greasy conditions. It has a smooth, clean finish with the natural irregularities removed. It is the easiest leather to maintain, and can be wiped clean with soap and water. Instep collar is generously padded. Roomy Thermoplastic toe box provides durable reinforcement and toe protection while allowing toes to move comfortably. Nonallergenic vegetable tanned leather sockliner wrapped around synthetic foam absorbs and evaporates perspiration. Protective Polyethylene heel counter allows the heel to move up and down when walking. Also provides lateral stability and acts as a natural shoe horn. PVC inner frame provides stability and reduces torque and pronation. Polyurethane outsole provides shock absorption and flexibility, withstands surfaces of extreme heat and cold, and protects feet, legs and back during long hours of standing or walking. Rocker bottom propels the foot forward when walking. Dansko Stapled clog outsoles are designed to be suitably slip resistant in workplace environments where excesses of vegetable oils and animal fats are present. Slip resistant tests have been carried out by SATRA, the world's leading research and technology organization for the footwear industry. Dansko's Stapled Clog Collection proudly carries the Seal of Acceptance from the American Podiatric Medical Association. 2" heel.

  • Proper fit allows for a Pinky finger-sized space behind heel

5Quality Clog  Oct 03, 2008
By Mark Garofalo "Jerri"
This is another wonderful example of Dansko quality you rarely find in shoes today. They are handmade shoes from the old country and come with their own unique style and charm. In the last 3 or 4 years I have been buying Danskos and now have clogs, sandals, and dress shoes, I have never bought a pair of Danskos I didn't like. These shoes are built to last. My first pair still look almost new. Their solid platform with a built in arch support keeps my feet from hurting. I can wear them all day long, walk the town, clean house, you name it. The Marcelle has the same shoe bed as the standard Dansko clog. The only thing I want to mention, is that when I was ordering my shoe, I had heard the Marcelle tends to be a little larger in shoe size than the other Danskos shoes. When my Marcelle's arrived, I found this to be true, and would say it is about 1 whole size larger. This was not a problem for me, as I am between shoe sizes anyway, but this is something other customers should be aware of when ordering them. I love the standard wide toe box, which is a necessity for me due to arthritic feet. Even with all my lumps and bumps it is very comfortable. As for the style of this shoe, it is just great. I love the strap, even though I confess, it had been a concerned to me before trying them on. I couldn't imagine having to undo and fasten the straps each time I would put these shoes on, but Dansko surprised me. They have situated the strap so that the foot slips in and out of the shoe with ease, no buckling necessary. Genius! I love that I can wear these both casual with jeans or dressed up with a skirt. Now I am wondering why I waited so long to add them to my wardrobe.

5A+++ rating from a Flight Attendant  Jun 11, 2011
By Martha Stewardess
As someone who stays on her feet 12+ hours daily I highly recommend these clogs. I have been wearing Danskos for about 15 years and find the Marcelle the best for comfort and style so far. The strap is adjustable and the top part is cut away further than the traditional clog and does not rub against the top of your foot nor need to be "worn in" the way the traditional professional clogs do. They do have the "rocker" bottom which might take some time to get used to: with each step your foot will rise out of the heel portion of the shoe slightly. They are made to do so and are great walking shoes, not so great running shoes (unless you like rolling your ankles!)

If you are new to Danskos then opt for the professional sole (which these have.) I've had all sorts of their different soles and uppers and the professional sole is the most comfortable and non skid. They do have a fairly high arch. I am constantly recommending these shoes to other people on their feet a lot and the only complaint I have ever heard is from someone with a shallow arch. They do have metal staples securing the leather to the sole and have to be removed at airport security but the easily slip on and off so it's not much of a negative considering the comfort of these shoes! I have heard the original professional style clog referred to as "flight attendant birth control" as some people think they are hideous enough to impair ones love life. Not the case with these cute mary janes! I have them in black, cabrio, and patent leather and often even wear them on my days off! Hope this helps ;0)

3Good Shoe, not as comfortable...  Apr 11, 2009
By greenlife
I got the marcelle cabrio in cordovan and it does run a little narrower and smaller than the professional series. Also, the color scuffs very easily and needs frequent polishing/touch ups. It is a pretty shoe with a good grip on surfaces just not as comfortable for long periods of wear. I also noticed that it is made in Brazil, all my other danskos are made in Italy. So, I'm not sure if it is an authentic dansko, I bought it from Amazon so I presume it is.

5Incredible comfort!  May 23, 2007
By K. A. Wallace "Bargain hunter"
Family and friends have talked about how wonderful Dansko shoes are, so I purchased a pair. The complete foot support make all day wearing of Dansko shoes a dream on your feet and legs. Since purchasing and wearing my Dansko Marcelle shoes, I have purchased two more pairs. You will be wonderfully satisfied with the incredible comfort of Dansko shoes!!!

4Have to break them in  Oct 09, 2009
By Natalie
These are my first pair of Dansko shoes and so far they are great. I recently tore my plantar fascia and my sister who had a similar problem recommended I try them out. The shoes were a little tight on the sides for me at the front and a bit big in the back but with moderately thick socks they are great. After wearing them a couple of times they have conformed to the shape of my foot better and don't feel as tight as they did at first. They are very supportive in the arch and feel sturdy enough that they will last a long time. For anyone who has never tried on a pair of Danskos, I recommend going to a brick-and-mortar store and trying them on to get the right size (I wear a 7.5 which is a 38 in EU sizes). Then come back to Amazon and make your purchase!
