Excellent quality and fit Oct 03, 2010
By TR Young I was hesitant to order shoes over the 'net, but I took a chance with these Dr. Martens, especially since I had to order them in UK sizes. I went on the word of a local shoe salesman who sold Dr. Martens but didn't have this particular style that they all fit the same, so I tried on a pair in the size I needed, then ordered these in that size. When I received them, I could not believe how well they fit! I also have some arch trouble, so I had a good set of orthopedic inserts that cushion my heel and offer arch support, and these Dr. Martens accepted the inserts with no trimming and they still fit perfectly. I oiled them good with some Picard's Shoe Oil, and they were ready to go. I work for Sikorsky Aircraft modifying Blackhawk helicopters, and am on my feet most all of the day, and these Docs did not let me down. It took about 3 days to really break them in, and they felt like I'd had them for years. The thick, soft soles are slip-proof and offer a lot of support for the knees and back, thus helping relieve body fatigue. The overall quality of these shoes is just fantastic. They look great and are very comfortable, even with the steel toe caps.
If you want a comfortable, nice looking safety shoe, these Dr. Martens are what you are looking for. Just remember to order them one size larger than you would normally order because they are in UK sizes.

Didn't last Jan 25, 2012
By desertbird After going through a few pairs of cheaper "Oxford" style shoe, I decided to spend the money on these for work. I am a manager at a factory, about 50/50 desk vs. on the floor. When I'm on the floor I want oil resistant and steel toe. In the office, something that doesn't look like a workboot. These fit the build, until I wore them every day for the last 6 months. I bought them in July 2011.
Right around Thanksgiving, I had to replace the insoles with Dr. Scholls. Not a big deal, I'm a big guy and usually replace insoles at least once. Now it's January, and the shoes are breaking down. Inside on the sole base, are cracks and wrinkles where the shoe flexes when I walk. I can feel this through the insoles and the shoes are becoming uncomfortable.
The tread is about 60% worn and the leather and lace both seem to be holding up, but the basic construction of the sole is just not what I expected out of a pair of Docs.

Good quality Dec 29, 2010

I have always used hi tec boots for my day to day activities at the job site and I wanted another pair that could be used in social settings as well. This one fits the bill but be aware that it is a lot heavier than normal shoes. It takes a little getting used to this massive shoe but once it's broken in, it's pretty comfortable. If you need a light shoe to walk around this is not it. Well you can walk of course but like I mentioned it's a heavy, high quality, made-to-last shoe.

Very Comfortable Steel Toe Shoes Jul 03, 2008
By T. Malyszko I've been buying Dr. Martens Steel Toe shoes and boots exclusively for the last 3 years and these are the most comfortable pair I've owned. They are as comfortable as my loafers I wear when I don't need to wear steel toe shoes.
The premium price one pays for Dr. Martens are worth it for 2 reasons: 1) Comfort - I can wear them 12 hours/day and my feet don't ache like they would with other brands. 2) Durability - With other brands, I replace my steel toe shoes/boot about every 6 to 8 months. The Dr. Martens shoes I've owned all last 12+ months.

Nice shoes, very comfortable and the have a nice thick sole that can add an inch or two to short people like me, plus the steel toe is handy in a bar fight.
