Not just for shoes! Jan 30, 2009
By James I originally ordered Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam to keep my shoes looking good. I own a pair of Dr. Martens 8053CH 5-Eyelet Gibsons in Gaucho Crazy Horse. They're an oily leather, the type of leather Wonder Balsam is made for. Whenever my shoes get scuffed or start to dry out, a little Wonder Balsam works wonders.
Recently I purchased a leather jacket made from Italian oiled leather. It was pre-distressed, and although it looked great already, some areas were more distressed than I would have liked. Today I broke out the Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam, applied it all over the jacket using the included sponge (use sparingly -- a little goes a long way) and the jacket looks even better now than it did on day one.
To anyone wearing shoes, jackets, bags and/or using other items made with oiled leathers, Dr. Martens Wonder Balsam gets my highest recommendation.

Keeps smooth leathers looking new Feb 11, 2008
By G. North This is a great product, one that I haven't found a substitute for. It is rather expensive for a few ounces, but that will last a couple years for several pairs of shoes, which makes it worth it.
There are a lot of other things that you could treat your shoes and boots with, but what people don't realize is that things like mink oil actually DECREASE the waterproofness of leather, as well as OVERSOFTEN. Why is this bad? Consider a hiking boot in which you want to maintain a little stiffness for support. You need a combination oil/wax product to maintain the leather's properties.
This product also eliminates scuff marks, just rub some in and buff with a brush, and you will be lookin' good. I noticed that DM also added a fragrance to this stuff, which was totally unessary because it had no odor before, but maybe their marketing department said they'd sell more if it smelled nice. Whatever, I still swear by it!

Great Product Apr 07, 2008
By AlexofSB I agree with the other reviewers. Have used a single container very successfully for several years. A small amount goes a long way. Have used it on most all colors of leather shoes (not white) and prefer it to all other types of polish. Great to travel with. Finally running out and looking to buy a second container.
Highly Recommended May 11, 2010
By Douglas D. Evans I highly recommend this product for anyone who owns a pair of leather shoes or boots. It does a great job polishing, removing marks, and conditioning the leather. I put some of this on my 5 year old pair of DR. Martens shoes, and it did a great job of brining back the original color. Unfortunately the balsam could not reverse all the years of abuse. After all it's wonder balsam not miracle balsam. I also want to reiterate a point that many others have made. A little bit of this stuff goes a long way. I can see this container lasting me at least a few years.
better than I thought! Mar 22, 2010

This stuff is amazing! Takes all the guess work out of a proper shoe polish.
Easy to use, and you really can't mess up the process.
I kinda feel bad tho, because this stuff does a better job than the shoe
shine guy down the street. oh well...
