Merrell Salzburg Mar 22, 2011
By sole searching I was looking for a shoe like this for kicking about, at work and everyday. They said this shoe was good to a certain minus degree of cold weather which I could use, but I really wanted to have something that was good for all year. So they are a bit warm! Don't get me wrong, but this is a good shoe and I will look to put them on during our wintertime here. It offers me support equal to about what you would get from a pair of sandals with a good foot bed. But those looking for a firm arch and metatarsal kind of tied up support you might want to try them first. And they are a bit longer inside than Merrel generally fit, but that was ok because of a reasonable foot bed. I have a pair of Merrel winter boots which give me some arch support. These shoes give me a bit better support for those looking for a winter shoe/boot to assist those aching arches. Comparing them for winter foot wear I like them. Although I would like to see this same shoe qualities in a summer shoe as well with better arch support.
Durable and Comfortable, but not Breathable Feb 27, 2012
By Mr Atoz I've worn these shoes for three months of mud and ice. The are well-built and comfortable, and they are indeed waterproof. However, unlike Gortex shoes their waterproof lining does not allow for air to circulate. The result is that feet become more damp with perspiration and thus colder in cold weather, smellier in warm weather. I don't fault Merrell for this. They deliver exactly waht they advertise, and a comparable shoe with Gortex would run almost twice the price. These are a good value for the money, much better made than Nubalance, more comfortable than Ecco or Lowe.
