Merrell Ridgeline Ventilator hiking boots Jan 02, 2012

These boots fit well, and have been very comfortable on hikes in rocky terrain (southern Arizona),without any break-in time. For me, the laces could be longer; I need to bypass one of the upper eyelets to tie them properly, so I'll be looking for longer laces.
I particularly like their lightness, yet firm grip, and good ankle support. They probably aren't very water repellent, but I knew this when I bought them, so they'll be for dry weather hiking.
So far, I would recommend them for moderate day hiking in mostly dry conditions. I'll switch to my older and heavier waterproof boots when need be.
PS: I bought these boots for my husband, who wrote the review. I don't wear size 11.5 clodhoppers.
