 The comfort and functionality of the Merrell Encore Moc Pro beats the competion by far ... May 13, 2012

I've worn the Women's Merrell Encore Moc Pro for a little more than a month now and am very satisfied with both the fit and the performance of these shoes. They are very similar in look and fit to my L.L. Bean mocs, but are noticeably more comfortable. If I try on one pair and then the other, there is a definite ergonomic difference. The cushioning is so much better in the Merrell. These do come in half sizes and I got the next half size up just to make sure they would work for me under all conditions. I do sit a lot, but when I'm not, I'm very active.
The one-inch elasticized band on either side of the shoe makes them very flexible. I can sit at my desk and bend my foot or stoop, walk, or run with ease. Granted I don't run much in these (not at all actually), but walk and am up and down a lot. One thing I noticed that I don't like is that the leather has light creasing across the top of my shoe in my dominant foot. It's just an individual thing, so really can't complain that much. These are women's shoes and they are designed for comfort and certainly fit the bill.
Comfort is why I bought them and I basically wear them for casual use. Mind you, they are very good looking mocs. Inside the box was an interesting pamphlet on the Q-Form, a brief discussion on how women move differently than men do and how these shoes were designed. There are diagrams, including one with with the lower skeletal structure, that show why women need their own footwear. Their premise was very interesting and made a lot of sense.
What is the Q-Angle? "One of the reasons women move differently is something call a Q-Angle (referring to the Quadricepts angle), which is the angle between the hip and the knee. Due to wider hips and a lower center of gravity, a woman's Q-Angle is mor pronounced. This stretches the inner ligaments and creates a cycle of supination and pronation." If your feet hurt when you first put them on, you have the wrong size. Apart and aside from all the science behind these shoes, I'm very satisfied with them and would highly recommend them.

Merrell couldn't have done a better job. I can slip these on and go out to shovel snow, run to get the mail or the paper. At the same time, they look nice enough to wear to a casual meal when there's inclement weather. The treads, I mean soles, are like tires; they do not slip. Great shoe.

This is a good alternative to the jungle moc if you need something dressier. Comfortable, though it takes a few hours to wear them in.

I purchased a pair last year & absolutely loved & raved about them to everyone! I was amazed how many hours I could wear them while at work! How, after standing all day, my ankle wasn't swollen and how my feet just didn't hurt! I was also shocked how long they lasted in general till I had to buy my 2nd pair, which was about a year.
Although with this order, I was SADLY disappointed! These shoes were NOT comfortable like my old ones & they hurt my feet, daily! I'm not sure if they slightly changed the shape, but my feet are in constant pain, there seems to be more shoe fabric near my ankle and it rubs on them constantly! I am just so bummed and disappointed that since my first pair were so awesome, as I'm on my feet 8-12 hrs a day, and these shoes aren't cheap, that these shoes turned out to be so awful! I also thought, "Oh, they just need to be worn in and then they will be more comfortable," but that has not been the case!
I would return them, but need to check the return policy as I've already worn them! I just hate wasting money!
