Great shoes Nov 12, 2010
By Ian Kaplan Yet another great pair of New Balance shoes. The quality of the shoe and it's price is good. One thing I love about New Balance is that their sizing is reliable. I can buy a pair in the same size as the last pair and it fits.

Great shoes, great color Nov 06, 2010
By S. Marsh When New Balance decided they were going to kill the series this shoe belongs to, and when they retired the A1 last, I wasn't happy. I've owned a lot of cross-trainers in my time, from many vendors, from before there were cross trainers. I go back more than forty years in shoes like these, and just a good basic shoe I can walk four or five miles in twice a day, drop by the gym and lift in (I've done the equivalent of 400 lb hack squats in these shoes), and wear for casual wear (nothing says "old" like white New Balance walking shoes -- and nothing says "too casual for casual wear" either ...) has been increasingly hard to find.
Even with the new last, and the changes, the 608 series is a good successor. The brown shoe works for casual wear where a tennis shoe is too casual. It is comfortable and I'm on my second set (with a set of white ones two, my second MX608Vs in white as well).
I'm finally over the A1.

Good value Dec 03, 2009
By L. Blasiman This shoe is comfortable, looks good and is a good value. Today it is easy to spend $100 plus on a pair of shoes, but if you're looking for shoes a little easier on the wallet this model is one to check out.

Cheaply Made; Nov 19, 2011
By John Chavez I own the version of the NB 608 with dark blue trim. It failed within a couple of months of light use and normal wear. The laces pulled through an eyelet hole and tore the leather. Upon closer inspection, the same thing is about to happen in a few other eyelet holes. The leather is flimsy and thin and has inadequate backing; that is why it failed as it did. I also owned the previous model NM 609, with lasted over 8 years of regular use with no problems at all; that earlier model had MUCH better materials and construction. My 608 was not up to what I knew to be NB quality. Quality control in Chinese factories is well-known to be inconsistent, and that is the case here with my NM 608 made in China. From now on I will closely inspect all NB products for materials and construction quality - my own standards are apparently higher than those of NB today.

Very comfortable Sep 02, 2011
By medialint I've been buying shoes on amazon for a couple of years now since the local stores only seem to stock size 7 and size 14 with nothing in between. New Balance has been pretty consistent for me in fitting me well and I have normally been buying the white leather walking or cross trainers but wanted something not so white. These shoes are definitely comfortable, and are more comfortable than most of the white leather new balance shoes I've been buying. I walk at least three miles a day just in my dad to day commute and usually more. I'll buy another pair once this one wears thin.
