These shoes like my feet! Apr 06, 2010

I looked in my usual shop-spots but couldn't find this shoe. I've been wearing this shoe or its predecessor for more than 15 years and they feel like what I imagine custom-made shoes would feel like. They wear like iron (I have gotten about 7 years out of each pair.) and have remained comfortable to the end. Only problem: The rawhide lace on my lead foot keeps coming untied once or twice a week (even when I double knot it).

Rockport Shoes - WIDE WIDTH comment Jan 04, 2011
By Richard C. Hopkins I don't have a very wide foot but usually require a WIDE shoe. This shoe was not much more than regular width in my opinion. Just beware.

Versatile Boat Shoe Dec 13, 2010
By Consumer I bought these to replace an older pair. It is the casual shoe of choice for me. When I am actually out sailing, I wear Sperry Originals; but they only last a season or two. For everyday wear, I own Rockports because they give more support and if you find yourself needing to come aboard, they have a non-marking shoe sole. Rockports are really good in the weight department. I wish they made a tie up that was sporty and dressy at the same time like they used to. Until then, this is my shoe choice.
Quality is good. Mar 11, 2012
By damn21 Rockport is a good pair of shoes. Adidas even cushion 'Adi Plan "by applying a good cushion. The design showed the attractiveness of boat shoes.
Big disappointment Nov 11, 2011

These shoes started falling apart within a few months. The inner lining around the heel (made of cut-rate foam covered with cloth) started disintegrating. Worst of all, the eyelets, for the part of the laces that goes around the heel, started cutting into my feet when i wore these shoes barefoot. A lot of boat shoes are worn barefoot, so this was really surprising to me. I hammered the eyelets down to make them smooth again, but the problem came back. Finally, I had a shoemaker cut the eyelets apart with pincers and remove them. On inspection they were not the solid brass used in decent boat shoes but brass-colored steel, hardly ideal for shoes typically immersed in saltwater. I always associated both Rockport and Adidas with quality. I'll never buy this shoe again. In recent years, I've noticed quality slipping on the (other) brands of boat shoes that used to be my favorites. I bought these Rockports by Adidas thinking they were higher quality. I was wrong. My Rockport walking shoes, and my Adidas Samba sneakers, are top-grade. But this boat-shoe model is a disappointment.
