The only shoe my hubby will wear Nov 21, 2009

Thank goodness Rockport rarely changes men's shoe styles. Ever since my husband discovered this particular style on a trip to Maine years ago, it is all he wears. Right now he has one old pair he wears for yard work and a new pair he wears for "good". He's worn out a few pairs over the years, but these shoes last for a very long time, are extremely rugged and will protect your feet, especially since they have a steel toe, which has been important because he works with a lot of stone in the yard. Spend the money on these shoes; you won't be replacing them every year.

too wide for the size Jun 25, 2011
By Bell I always bought the walking rockport shoes of the same model, this one with steel toe is just too wide inside. I am not comfortable with it. I had to add a sole inside to hold my foot correctly. I got pain in my heel. I am thinking to add special soles instead to help. I do not understand why it is made too wide. I own other safety shoes, kind executive one and works fine. I hope rockport will review the design, myself I will never buy shoes from a web site if I do not try it in a store.

RockPort Does Work Feb 20, 2011
By Chaz Product arrived as descrived. Use as work shoe driving charter bus. Very comfortable from the first time I put them on. No break in time required.
Good shoe, squeaky outsoles Aug 24, 2011
By Tom Y This is a good, comfortable steel-toe casual shoe. The quality is great, the shoe is comfortable, and of course it is a full-fledged safety shoe.
The only thing I don't like about this shoe, and it is a huge issue for me hence the three star rating, is that the soles squeak like crazy on any sort of finished floor: waxed tiles, polyurethane-coated wood, etc. That means I'm "that guy" who squeaks when he comes into the room. Not a problem if you're wearing these shoes on a factory floor, but if you're looking for something to wear in both work and casual environments like me it is a problem. I've had these shoes a couple months so this is not a break-in issue.
Other reviewers don't like the insoles and said they had them replaced. Personally, I think they're fine. One should note that the shoe box contains a warning that the electrostatic dissipative rating of the shoe depends upon the insoles and that they should not be replaced. If you don't need an ESD shoe, of course that doesn't apply.
So, as long as you don't mind being "Mr. Squeaky," I think these are great shoes and would recommend them. If squeaking is an issue for you, look elsewhere: Red Wing has some very nice steel toe casual shoes.
not a good work shoe Apr 28, 2011
By sb122000 The shoes were super comfortable at first. However, I am on my feet all day at work walking on cement. After about 2 months I needed to put insoles in them; the cushioning wore away. These shoes will be great if you do not need to wear them every day.
