Gave me a decisive victory over snowy trails Jan 02, 2011
By seasaint7 My adventure of trail running in Vibram 5 Fingers has been thwarted by the significant snowfall that's struck North Jersey last week. This week the snow has been busy melting, and my Vibram's have been busy allowing water to seep in and allowing my feet to be assaulted and crippled by sharp rocks. I couldn't take anymore and I couldn't give up running, so I caved in and and bought these lifeboats. They are amazing! My running trail has turned into a small, snow covered river of melt and mud. The Razors cruised through and kept my feet warm and bone-dry. They were anointed repeatedly in several inches of water. No problem! The tread consists of a very predominant lateral pattern. I think this is important to mention because since my childhood, I've hiked on a lot of hilly terrain and learned at an early age to walk sideways for more traction on steep hills. The tread and grip on the Razors is very strong and eliminates the need for sideways-stepping up and down hills. Even more important to mention is that I found the predominant lateral tread can tend to slip more when navigating hills sideways. The only drawback I found is some foot discomfort from inadequate support around the toes and ball of my right foot, hence my 4-star rating.. I believe a good insole will take care of that. These are definitely the cat's pajamas!
Best Wet Weather Shoes EVER! Feb 10, 2012
By 604Runner I live an Vancouver, BC and we get a lot of rain. I was tired of circulating through my 3-4 pairs of regular runners...waiting for a pair to be dry.
I found these ProdGrid Razor and decided to give them a try. I received them 2 days before we had a big dump of snow...I decided to put them to the test once the slush and ice water puddles arrived; the shoes performed perfectly! My feet stayed dry, warm and I had excellent traction in the snow and mud.
I'm extremely pleased with those shoes. They have the usual Saucony comfort, great heel support and a very nicely finished outer shell with lots of reflective striping for night/rainy day running. Very light and breatheable as well considering the neoprene outer layer.
An excellent purchase that I would highly recommend to anyone running/walking/hiking in wet weather.
Enjoy!
Warm and supportive ! Jan 11, 2012
By LBoyd99 I bought this shoe for running in the winter in Southern Ontario, Canada. I run mostly paved trails and sidewalks, but some areas are snow and ice covered. Given our "warm" temperatures this winter, there's been slush, mud, and puddles. The shoes are perfect for me. I've never had wet or cold feet (5 miles). On significant snow covered ice patches, you'll probably still slip, but I've found that my footing is pretty sure for surface icy slush. I don't need to double up on socks -- the inside of the shoe is well padded. Width-wise, the fit is snug, but it feels good. For a tough shoe, it's lighter than you'd think. And they look fantastic! I'd definitely buy these shoes again.
