2good concept, doesn't work  Nov 13, 2009
By Young Song "triclops"
The shoes are fairly light and initially fit well for their size. They breathe as well as any running shoes. I was so curious to try these out. On paper, they sure sell the concept of springs as a good idea for shoes. In practice however, I found some real issues. I developed foot pain rather quickly after running in these. The 3 small springs cause 3 hot spots. It would have been advisable to have a stiff insole to distribute the pressure from the springs more evenly through each region of the foot.
When you land on that shoe, you don't feel a springy return - instead, it feels like a regular running shoe with the parts where the springs are located feeling like stiff rigid objects trapped under the insole... so it's a bit of a rock-in-the-shoe feel. I'm 5'9 and weigh 150 pounds.
it's been a nice gimmick that I got suckered into but I would not use these for serious training or competition. I'll go back to my regular running shoes but I may use these Spiras for walking around the neighborhood.

4My husband is happy with Shoe  Aug 21, 2011

My husband usually runs on the track and uses these shoes for training. He does not race in them. He is happy with the weight of the shoe and the support the shoes offer. He now owns three pair and uses them for walking around shoes as well as for running. He would recommend them.
