Description:

?Cushion Trainer - WaveSpring Technology ?Unlike traditional shoe midsole made primarily of foams, rubber compounds, or polymers, WaveSpring? technology stores and disburses energy with every step. Testing performed by an independent source reports that 87% - 96% of the energy is returned from the WaveSpring?. ?The WaveSpring? is laterally stable, lightweight, compact, and can easily fit into a typical shoe midsole. The technology is in the heel and forefoot of the shoe. As such, it has the appearance of a normal shoe. Looking from the outside no one will know you have a spring in your step but you! ?Traditional midsole materials work through compression and often breakdown quickly. The WaveSpring? is mechanical. The spring will outlast the shoe. The wearer will have a "new shoe" feel from the first day its worn to the last! ?Tri-Spring Configuration

2Poor performance out of an ugly shoe  May 24, 2011
By Ryan C. Anderson "tzn"
I purchased the shoe despite the ugly appearance hoping for function over aesthetics. They did no more than less expensive shoes. I have had many pairs of shoes that have worked better than these and didn't use a gimmick to draw me in. Avoid these.

One of the shoes fits differently than the other. That is on my right foot feels more squeezed in and can feel a strap the first month of use. Might just be my feet (wide). Overall they are comfortable to wear while running or whatever else and look pretty good.

1Spira - Poor Quality and Poor Company  Oct 21, 2010

My first pair of Spira shoes had a very rough glob of hard glue on the inside of the shoe over my little toe. This gave me a blister within the first mile of running. I returned these shoes and got a second pair. Again, there was the same protrusion of glue on the inside of the shoe. I finally filed the rough spot down and then put mole skin over the area. This made it possible to at least use my new expensive shoes.
After running on the shoes for 2 months I noticed that the springs in the front of the shoe were making a clicking feeling and then all of a sudden one of the springs felt like it was stuck in the up position. This made the shoe impossible to use. Unfortunately this happened 4 days before my marathon. Later, I cut the shoe open to discover the spring had broken into 4 different pieces. Spira claims the springs will increase the life of the shoe, but my experience found the springs to be a liability since you never know when they will malfunction and render the shoe unusable.
I contacted the company and they refused to do anything to help me. My experience with Spira shoes was that they are poorly built, the springs break and malfunction and the company does not stand behind their product - which is a warning sign of a company with a BAD product.

I use these for plyometrics and they really do take the shock out of the landings. Jumping and landing on the forefoot I can actually feel the spring compress and rebound if I'm paying attention to it, and it is FAR less punishing to my knees than any other shoe I've ever used for such purposes.

If I have one complaint, they may be a little narrow in the toe, but that's just my feet and they broke in nicely so it's not an issue any more.

I've had shoes that cushioned with everything from gel to air pressure to just thick rubber soles, and these springs are undoubtedly the most effective thing I've ever stood on when it comes to absorbing shock and rebounding the energy.
I fully expect the steel spring to far outlast the plastic air bladders too.

Brilliantly simple concept, ain't it?
