3Comfortable except inside scratchy  Jun 13, 2011
By bojuma
Have had Teva sandals before and liked them very much, so bought these water shoes. Very nicely cushioned sole, quick drying, and very anti slip - - which I love. The only downside I've found is that the materials are very scratchy to your foot unless you wear socks, which defeats the purposes of water shoes, in my opinion. I don't use them as much as I thought I would simply because the interior materials are so scratchy on skin.

4Great Water Shoe! Comfortable!  Nov 28, 2011
By T. Shawver "High5Todd"
I purchased the Teva Performance Water Shoes for my wife and I for a cruise we took, and we were glad we had them for our cruise and for the excursions.

On our cruise, we visited the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. At each location, it required being in the water one way or the other. In the Bahamas, it was great to have them for the jagged rocks on the bottom of the sea floor. In Jamaica, when visiting Dunn's River Falls, they were handy on the rocks as we climbed the falls, which would have been slippery otherwise. The soles are very rugged and sturdy, and the traction very nice. While many were slipping on the rocks due to their $10 water shoes, our footing held firm. In Jamaica, we also did a Dolphin Encounter, where the shoes came in handy on the slippery steps down to the platform. The shoes also allowed us to have great footing.

The only thing that worried us we some of the reviews, which stated that they did not dry quick, they were uncomfortable, or they didn't have sufficient drainage. This was not the case at all. They did dry quick, especially after being in the water for hours, and they were comfortable to wear, even as normal sneakers. Drainage was not a problem either. For those that complained about sand not draining from the shoes, what else would you expect from walking in the sand!?!? For those that complained about them smelling afterwards, I believe they smelled fine. I urge those to smell their other shoes to see if they get the same "aroma" as well...could be the user and not the product ;)

Recommendations: Make sure you buy these shoes a few weeks in advance and wear them a little bit to stretch them out. Just like any other shoes, the Teva Performance Water Shoes need a little wear to provide the full maximum comfort for the trip. Also, don't be afraid to wear thin socks with the shoes if you are using them to walk around in relatively dry locations. They are fashionable enough to be worn as a sneaker and durable enough to be warn as a water shoe.

5Perfect Water Shoe  Oct 05, 2011
By Stephanie
As recommended by other water shoe purchasers, I did buy a 1/2 size bigger and glad I did. The laces hold well and the fit is great. The shoes dry nicely. I haven't had any problems with cracking (as other shoes have done) and the durability is excellent. I use them often for running laps in the pool and the support is great on my foot. I do recommend these shoes and would buy them again if needed.

3OK. Not as great as I hoped  Sep 09, 2011
By S. M. Petrus
I was looking for a shoe that I could use while hiking and be able to cross streams and not have to worry about slipping on a rock, or sopping wet sneakers the rest of the hike. We go camping a lot on the river bank, so the non-slip aspect was probably the most important thing for me. They excelled in that department. I went water walking along the rocks the first day I got them and they were great. Good traction even on the wet rocks. I got them to replace my merrel "barefoot" hiking shoes which were slippery as ice once they got wet. So there's the one positive (other than the fact that they really are cute shoes)

The negatives:
-Itchy! Another reviewer also said they were itchy inside, and they weren't kidding. I ended up having to wear socks with them because they irritated my little toe so bad. I also got blisters on the backs of my heels. I'm hoping to wear them a few times and maybe "break them in" not sure if that will help.

-Never dry!! They advertise them as quick drying. Well I wore them on the first day of camping, and by the third day they were still soaking wet. They seem like they would dry well, they are mesh like. But they don't. I kept having to put on wet shoes everytime I wanted to wear them. (I wore them four wheelering trying to break them in since I wouldn't have to walk in them, since I had blisters from them at this point)

-Have to wear socks! So I mentioned this above, but wearing socks defeats the purpose of water shoes.

I wanted to love these shoes so much. I am still going to give them a chance, but my feet are still trying to recover. If they were more comfortable they would be perfect since the traction is so good on these things!!

Good Luck!

5Unexpectedly fantastic as running shoes  Sep 02, 2011
By ACM
I bought these for a rafting trip and they were absolutely perfect for that. But, even better, they are unexpectedly fantastic for running! I was on vacation and wanted to go running and had only these shoes, so I put them on, sockless, and went for a 4 or 5 mile run, and they worked perfectly. I've been mixing them into my regular running routine for the past few weeks since then. I wasn't planning on getting into the minimalist running shoe thing, and i usually run in some pretty standard Brooks, but this has been a great way to mix-up my routine and my joints feel good. Try it! Seriously. I am not some five-fingers nut; I just thought these were great to run in though.
