5Etnies Wraith ROCKS!!!  Jan 18, 2011
By Robert D. Childs "Helios_AI"
This pair of shoes is what I have been seeking for quite some time now - decently priced, and in classic basic black (although other versions are available - notably the 'Metal Mulisha' with the skull and red detailing).

I have worn various types of skate shoes for years - Airwalk, Etnies, Osiris, Vans, etc., and over recent years it seemed like it was becoming more and more difficult to find a pair that wasn't either some stupid neon-color scheme(80's throwback?) or priced ridiculously (I am NOT paying $80-$90 for a pair of shoes that I plan on destroying while skateboarding, bicycling, running, etc. - kids whose parents are footing the bill for them can have at it). Finding my size can be tricky too - either the larger ones are getting bought up fast, or they aren't making enough of them.

I usually avoid buying any kind of footwear or clothing (except for t-shirts) online since I prefer to be able to try them on (and not have to worry about shipping them back if they suck), but I took the risk when I saw the low price, black on black color scheme, and based on my previous good experiences with Etnies.

I was not disappointed - in fact, I was amazed.

This has to be the single most comfortable pair of shoes I have ever owned. They provide considerable ankle support - especially for a low-top shoe. This is important as my left ankle is still recovering from having a tightly-laced boot ripped completely off of it in a motorcycle wreck (head on collision with a truck). Ironically my right ankle was broken, but took less time to heal. There is a screw in my right ankle that tends to rub against the top of most shoes, but I haven't noticed it at all in these.

From the second I put these shoes on, I didn't want to take them off. The insole is extremely comfortable, giving some cushioning, but still leaving a tactile feel. The ultra-suede top looks fantastic, and is a lot more resilient than I would have guessed. The rubber sole grips anything it touches, be it skateboard, bicycle pedals, stairs, pavement, wood, even wet and slippery surfaces are no problem.

The detailing is subtle - with the Etnies logo in slightly glossy black on the tongue and back of the heel, and in pinholes on the sides. This makes them serve dual-purpose as skate shoes and for dressing up a little for work. I've received many compliments on them from people already - both while skating and while dressed up.

I would recommend these shoes to anyone - usually low price and high quality are a hard thing to find, but Etnies hit it directly on the head. I even wrote them a letter congratulating them on their excellent design, and workmanship. When I wear these out (which they are standing up to a lot of abuse so far) I will definitely consider replacing them with another pair of the same.

5Best shoes I have ever owned...  Jan 13, 2012
By BoWiiVille
These shoes are made with quality materials and a quality design. I have owned them for a few weeks now and there is no visible sign of wear yet. They are extremely comfortable. They are very lightweight, but have plenty of padding where it counts. The tongue is extra thick, and the upper sides are thick enough to protect your entire foot from the average impact injury you might get while skateboarding. I ride a Unicycle off-road (MUNI) and also do some beginner street tricks. These shoes are great for UNI and they would be equally as good for a skater. I've never owned Etnies before, but my next pair of shoes will be Etnies, too.

These are very comfortable shoes, don't let the picture fool you. The tounge on all Etnies are huge!!!!!! Well bigger then most anyways. They seem to be all in all good quality.
